FATALE draws from the visual language and archetypes of film noir: a detective, a nightclub, a disappearance, a femme fatale, an elusive figure known only has Blue Jay. But beneath the surface of this world lies a deeper investigation into the identities we perform, the ones we protect, and the ones we have yet to confront.
Through contemporary dance and theatrical storytelling, FATALE reexamines the femme fatale as more than an object of desire or danger—she is a constructed identity born from survival.
The work asks what happens when those constructions begin to fracture, and what emerges when we finally allow ourselves to meet what we have long avoided.

The physical world of FATALE is evolving through In Process choreography labs, Lindsay Jorgensen’s ongoing platform for choreographic research and experimentation.
FATALE: A DUET
From the development of the evening-length work

Created as a standalone work, this duet draws from the movement vocabulary and narrative relationship of the Detective and her Younger Self within FATALE. The duet has taken on a life beyond the larger work, including a commission by Connecticut Ballet, while continuing to serve as an early exploration of FATALE’s physical and emotional language.
This duet’s casting is independent of the characters’ casting in the full-length work.
